2017’s most anticipated album releases to get excited for

2016 had a lot of great albums, including Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Little Mix’s Glory Days, so 2017 has a lot to contend with. There’s undoubtedly a lot of competition for what will be this year’s biggest and best album, so here’s a list of the 2017’s most anticipated albums that are in the pipeline so far…

Ed Sheeran

Ed made his return this new year and everyone is rejoicing. Having made a comeback with not one, but two new singles, it’s no surprise that his third album, Divide, is currently number one on the Bestselling Pre-Orders on iTunes. The album is due to drop on 3rd March.

Katy Perry

It’s been over three years since the release of Prism but from what she’s posting on social media, it looks as if the final touches of Katy’s fourth album are being put into place. She’s been collabing with Sia, Rudimental and DJ Locksmith to name a few, though it’s unconfirmed as to whether or not these collaborations will make the final cut.

Hey Violet

One of the artists mentioned in my “Ones To Watch” post, 5 Seconds of Summer’s apprentice band are gearing up to release their debut album in the spring of this year. Having being signed to the Aussie pop-punk’s own label in 2015, the LA based band have toured twice with 5SOS as well as headlining their own European tour back in 2015. The album has been confirmed via the band’s management’s website.

Welcome to The New Dynasty

new-dynasty

Warning: This post is long, so grab a cup of tea or a snack and settle down to read!

Saturday nights are usually what people look forward to all week and for me, it was no different. Except instead of putting my glad rags on and heading to the clubs or flopping out on the sofa to watch ‘The X Factor’ (the latter is usually the norm for me) I was heading into Cardiff with my friend, Alysha, to be reunited with my other friend, Camryn.

“Have you got questions prepared?” Alysha asked me as we greeted each other.
“Of course. We’re testing her knowledge on the UK.”
“Cool. So, shall we go get the food now or later?”

You see, instead of meeting up with Camryn to go shopping on Queen Street or grabbing a bite to eat, we’d be interviewing her. Wait, backtrack… who interviews their friends? That’s kind of weird, Jazz. Right? Except Camryn is a singer. Scratch that. She’s a teen pop-rock star living out the dream of millions of musicians even up to double her age.

Stop the tape and rewind to a few years ago, when I was some plucky teen fangirl with a passion for the Disney Channel stars of 2008 such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, I used to regularly check a website called ‘Cambio’. I was flicking through the articles when I saw one about an 11-year-old musician and naturally since she wasn’t much younger than me, I decided to check her out. That’s when I came across Camryn. She was promoting one of her earlier singles, ‘Wait and See’. After giving it a listen and watching the video, I definitely found myself into her music. Click, click, click – I followed her social media. She’d pop up on my Twitter timeline regularly with various posts on things she was working on, including touring with teen pop sensations Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance. A few years later I was reading a magazine and a familiar face with blonde hair with a glistening smile – it was Camryn. It talked about how she was touring with One Direction in the states along with an interview with her. I hadn’t seen anything about her in the UK yet so I snapped a picture and tweeted it to her only for her to thank me and share it on her socials. I’d tweet her now and then and she’d normally reply which was always nice.

One day, she announced something pretty big and exciting – she was the opening act for One Direction’s UK & European leg of their world arena tour. And guess what? It included Cardiff. I was beyond excited. Of course, I loved One Direction but I’d been supporting Camryn for so long that I had to see her or just be able to say hi outside the arena. I checked Ticketmaster. SOLD OUT. Dammit. Oh well, if I can’t be there, I should at least message her to congratulate her and recommend places to check out if she had the time in between shows, right? I messaged her Facebook page where we ended up talking. I told her about how I wanted to be a pop culture journalist and it was on my bucket list to interview her for the youth website I was writing for. To my surprise, she was totally up for meeting in Cardiff for me to do just that and gave me the details of her publicist. After working with the editor of CLIConline (R.I.P) alongside her publicist, we sorted out a time and place for the interview, which I was extremely nervous for. This was my first proper interview in person. Sure, I’d done bits and pieces for the site before, but this was huge for me. Needless to say it went pretty well; I met Camryn – who was lovely as expected – and she and her manager even hooked me up with tickets to the show. It was incredible and was where I discovered my love for 5 Seconds of Summer. To Camryn, that was one of many interviews she’s done in her career, but for me it was something big. It helped me realise this was something I wanted to do as a career. It’s ultimately what helped me decide I wanted to take pop journalism seriously. And I did. If you know me, you’ll be well aware of some of the crazy experiences I’ve had and interviews I’ve done – from YouTube phenomenon Tyler Oakley and even Oscar award winners from Disney’s Big Hero 6. It’s insane and I’d like to think that little interview with Camryn in 2013 had a big impact on that.

When we first met in 2013
When we first met in 2013

A little over three years later and Camryn was back in town and this time supporting American girl band, Fifth Harmony. We had both grown over time; me being newly-turned 21 and her now 17 and back with a brand new EP and total maturity in her sound. Of course, we’ve kept in touch over the years and I even befriended some of her band and team. I asked United By Pop kindly if they could help me arrange an interview with Camryn for their site to which they happily agreed to. After some sorting out, we had arranged to meet at the venue. Alysha, who played my the role of my right hand woman and camera operator for the day (as well as great company) and I met up with Camryn and her manager, Lesley and greeted each other before heading to the tour bus which would act as our studio for the interview. We had a lot of bags with us and all for Camryn and her crew – which they loved. My lovely friend Lily had hooked us up with some amazing LUSH products for both Camryn and her crew and we bought a tin of chocolates to say thank you to them all (it was thanks to her drummer, Justin, that we had 3 free tickets on the guest list for that night’s show – so it would be crazy not to thank him and the band for meeting us as well as Camryn and her manager for setting up this opportunity) They were delighted with the gifts and we had a chat about the last time Camryn and I had met as well as the support account Alysha and I ran to help promote her. After a few minutes of nattering, we began to film. We decided to do two segments – one where I’d quiz Camryn on knowledge on the UK and another where she’d try some well known British snacks, both proving to be a lot of fun.

We must have spent almost two hours on the bus. In between working on content for United By Pop, we took some short videos and pictures for the fansite as well as some Instax photos for competitions. Camryn even threw in some signed flyers and one personalised one each for myself and Alysha as a token of gratitude for supporting her. We even got to take a picture for my scrapbook which I’m filling for my year as 21.

Something to remember the day by
Something to remember the day by

We soon said our “see you laters” as we agreed to bring Lily, who was the proud third guest we’d be bringing along to the show, to meet Camryn and the band to introduce her as the girl behind the amazing gifts we had previously given them. She would have come along to the interview, but unfortunately had to work.

After a few hours in Cardiff to grab a bite to eat and meet up with Lily, we returned to the venue to pick up our tickets from the guest list. There seemed to be a problem and we began to get nervous, so we messaged Justin who along with Lesley managed to sort things out and we were given the tickets for the show. We weren’t expecting seats as amazing as we were given – we would have been happy with seats at the back, since this show was Fifth Harmony’s headliner and we were just guests, but we managed to be seated in the fifth row from the front in the middle – a perfect view of the stage and to catch the eye of Camryn and the band when they performed their set.

Of course, my girl rocked the stage and it was overwhelming to see how many people wanted to meet her before the main act graced the arena with their performance. We hung around until the end to make sure all fans had their chance to meet Camryn so we stood with Lesley and talked for a little while. To see at least a hundred fans wanting to meet the girl I’d been supporting and friends with since day one was incredible, especially in Wales as she wasn’t as well known on her first visit. It melted my heart to hear parents talk to their daughters and asking if they wanted to dye their hair the same as Camryn’s bold blue and their skip step back to their seats with excitement in their eyes after meeting the teen rocker moments before. Cam then came over to join us and meet Lily before grabbing a picture with her and signing an autograph. Everyone thanked her for the presents and, let’s be honest, everyone LOVES Lush products. We talked for a little while before Camryn had to leave to do some college work and we arranged to meet with the band before leaving after the show.

Now, I know Harmonizers will be kinda mad at me, but I’m not the biggest Fifth Harmony fan. I appreciate them and their music, but they’re just not my go-to artists to listen to. However, I will say that their performance on Saturday was pretty fricking awesome and myself, Alysha and Lily definitely enjoyed ourselves. Except the inflatable balls they kicked about where practically every single ball in the room decided to land on my head (which, by the way, I was slowly getting a headache following a long day). In my line of work, Fifth Harmony are known as a ‘priority act’ thanks to their huge popularity among fans across the world, so it was nice to finally see them live and be able to gain a new found respect for them and their music.

We left the show a little early as Alysha had to be ready to catch her train home and we wanted to say hey to the band whom we have known for a while but never got to meet in person. It was great to finally talk face to face and get some pictures as well as talk about the show and our general interest in music as a whole.

Before we knew it, it was time to go – Camryn was still doing college work and our lifts were on their way. We said our goodbyes and agreed to meet up again the next time they’re back in the UK, this time hopefully a lot sooner than three years. I have a lot of faith in Camryn, especially for gaining a European fanbase on this tour with Fifth Harmony.

It was an amazing day overall and I had so much fun seeing Camryn again as well as finding a love for Fifth Harmony’s music and of course spending time with my friends Alysha and Lily.

A massive thank you to Lesley for arranging everything and being so nice, the band for just being awesome (especially Justin for the tickets) and of course my girl, Camryn, who I am so beyond proud of. Seeing her go from a little girl from Denver, Colorado with some cute pop songs to touring with some of Pop’s biggest acts of our generation and evolving as an artist overall is just so overwhelming in the best way possible. I cannot wait to see what’s next for her. By the way, you can listen to her EP,New Dynasty, right here and follow our fan support account @CamrynWales.

Alos a huge thank you to Alysha for acting as assistant for me with the interview process and running the fan account and of course Lily for coming along and providing the lovely gifts. Lily also blogs, which you can check out here. 🙂

June and July Favourites 2016

june july (1)

Hello, strangers!

I didn’t have too many favourites during June, so I decided to do two months in one. I’ve also been fairly busy the past two months so forgive me for the lack of posts.

LUSH’s Grease Lightning

Grease Lightning

My wonderful friend recently sent me a goody box of lovely LUSH products and I took a shine to this one in particular. This zit zapper which includes Fair Trade organic aloe vera gel, fresh sea water and grape juice as some of its alluring ingredients is definitely a winner with me. Throughout June I had a few nasty breakouts of one or two big whoppers and this beaut in a bottle really came to the rescue in sorting them out.

Available for £6.50

LUSH’S Coalface cleanser

Coalface

Another product I received was the Coalface cleanser. This was one of the first ever LUSH products I tried and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again. The smell for me takes me back to when I first started using the products, which is nice, but may not be to everyone’s liking. You use it like a typical soap and wash off and it cleanses your skin nicely and consistently.

Available from £5.95

‘Girls Talk Boys’ by 5 Seconds of Summer

The Aussie foursome are back with a brand new single and this time, it’s pretty special. The track belongs to the soundtrack of the 2016 remake of ‘Ghostbusters’. The song gives off some very retro funk vibes which honestly makes me think of putting on some flares and heading out to my local disco to bust some moves. As an introvert, however, I just listen to it as I get on with work and mime my heart out.

‘Brand New Moves’ by Hey Violet

Speaking of 5 Seconds of Summer, their first band signed to their label, ‘Hi or Hey Records’, have released the lead track of their new EP, ‘Brand New Moves’. Hey Violet are back a year on from their debut ‘I Can Feel It’ and following 5SOS on the retro sounds. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat since the release at the end of July and I honestly cannot wait to hear the upcoming EP releasing later this month.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics matte lip in ‘Martha Moo’

Martha Moo

Beauty guru, Tanya Burr, has released a new range to her beauty line and I was extremely excited to get my hands on the matte lip in the colour ‘Martha Moo’, named after her dog, Martha. The colour reminds me of a 90s grunge which is rich in colour and only needs one application to create the perfect matte lip.

Available for £5.99

‘New Dynasty’ EP by Camryn

Camryn is back with her brand new EP, ‘New Dynasty’, which is a five track extended play. Camryn’s sound has matured since her One Direction tour days and is a prime example of where she plans to take her music. I’m super excited to see her near future plans.

‘You Don’t Know Love’ by Olly Murs

Olly has released the first single from his upcoming untitled album and it’s definitely a right bop. I managed to meet up with Murs (after that story) on his radio tour promoting the single and it’s definitely thrilling and refreshing to hear his new music on the airwaves once again.

This has been a music-heavy two months for me! What have you been loving lately?

5SOS' Ashton Irwin becomes a hero for the night!

Screen Shot 2016-04-22 at 18.08.11

If you follow this blog and my social media, you’ll know that last weekend I was in Cardiff for a 5 Seconds of Summer concert weekend along with some friends. While we were there, something that only happens in fan fiction happened. 5 Seconds of Summer’s drummer, Ashton Irwin, booked my friend a hotel room! Crazy, right?

Ashton (left) was Laura's superhero for the night
Ashton (left) was Laura’s superhero for the night

While the media are hounding her for the 411, Laura agreed to speak to me about the craziness that took place early Saturday morning.

Hey Laura! So, what was the situation that led you to Ashton being your saviour of the night?

Hi Jazz!  Basically the hotel room that my friend’s boyfriend booked had accidentally been booked for 2 people rather than 3 so as I was supposed to meet them later I ended up not being able to stay in that room.

Where were you when he found you?

I was outside the back of the arena when Ashton’s taxi pulled up.

Did you ask him for help or was it his own decision to take matters into his hands?

Actually I didn’t even start the conversation! I didn’t want to trouble him so I just smiled and waved and he came over to ask how I was doing. I explained my situation and he asked why I couldn’t buy myself a room in the hotel across the road so I told him I had no money. He swiftly replied that he did and crossed the road to the hotel.

Was there any doubt that he’d not be able to get a room?

Well to be honest I thought he was trying to convince the hotel staff to let me crash on yours and Sarah’s hotel room floor.

That’s security being too tight! Did he end up pulling the “famous” card by any chance?

I did make a joke along the lines of ‘use your fame to make them let me stay’ and he laughed!

What was your reaction when he offered to book you a room?

I was gobsmacked. I thought he was just going to tell me to ‘stay safe’ and walk away but no! I was so close to tears I was that grateful. (Being absolutely shattered didn’t help on the tear front haha)

If you could meet with him again, what would you like to say to him?

I would want him to know how incredibly grateful I am! I did thank him a lot that night but I wasn’t fully composed haha. I’d like to be a lot calmer and tell him how much it meant to me and probably give him another cheeky hug!

People often say celebrities and pop stars have a big ego – what would you say about that?

I mean some celebrities might but I don’t think 5sos do at all. Every time i’ve met them they’ve always been so lovely! It was almost 3 am I don’t think Ash was in the mood to meet people (which I don’t blame him for, he was off to bed!) He didn’t have to meet me that night let alone help me out! That just shows how caring he is!

So much happened at the 5SOS weekend which you can find out in my vlogs

2015 favourites

2015 favourites

[Apologies this is late – I’m in bed with two ear infections and the flu. My painkillers have kicked in enough for me to finish adding images and publishing!]

It’s that time of the year again where I discuss my favourite things from the year. As I lacked in regular posts this year, I decided to just wait until now to do my favourite products from the past 12 months in a post similar to this one. Without further ado, here are my 2015 favourites.

Music

Little Mix – Get Weird

Get Weird

Little Mix made a big comeback from their 12 month sabbatical and downtime in the studio with their third album ‘Get Weird’. which is full of melodramatics, sass and just some damn right catchy tunes. Of course, I purchased the Deluxe edition and absolutely fell in love with it. My personal favourites include hit single ‘Black Magic’, ‘Secret Love Song Pt II’ and ‘A.D.I.D.A.S’ (not about the sporting brand, in case you were wondering.) This album is eclectic and showcases the sounds of girl band’s from today’s generation perfectly. I’m very much looking forward to them performing it live next year on the Get Weird tour which starts in Cardiff. Of course, I will be there.

5 Seconds of Summer – Sounds Good, Feels Good

sounds good feels good

This is the second album from 5SOS since getting signed in 2014 by Capitol Records and it shows such a difference from their debut studio album. The campaign alongside the album, ‘The New Broken Scene’, aims to promote that the album and any environment involving the band is a place for the “outcasts” and people who are suffering with stigma from mental health. Tracks such as ‘She’s Kinda Hot’, ‘Jet Black Heart’ and ‘Broken Home’ are just a few of the songs which fans are able to find pretty easy to relate to and I am definitely in love with this album.

One Direction – Made in the A.M

made in the amx

The first album post Zayn and the last album pre haitus; Made in the A.M is One Direction’s most anticipated album since Up All Night (aka album number one) and what a difference there has been since 2011. As a fan, I feel honoured to have watched them grow from teenage boys to young men and listen to their sound mature from bubblegum pop to chasing the rock vibes. While I’m sad that we won’t be getting a new album in 2016, I’m very satisfied with the music we have been left with for these 18 months.

Books

Binge – Tyler Oakley

binge cover

As you may be aware from my review, this is something I highly enjoyed reading. The essays compiled by Tyler Oakley covering a numerous amount of topics are definitely relatable to myself or people I care about and is definitely on my top three favourite books this year.

Love, Tanya – Tanya Burr

love-tanya-burr-book-cover

It’s true that there are many YouTubers signing book deals lately, but ‘Love, Tanya’ is definitely one I recommend. ‘Love, Tanya’ is like a handwritten guide from a beautiful big sister who has experienced the highs and lows of a teenage life and female problems and is now sharing her advice. Plus, the baking chapter is definitely a must read and try.

140 Characters of Truth – Joshua Fox

josh fox

This book was written by my friend and fellow journo, Josh Fox and although I only read it last month, it’s definitely an important one. Josh says the things many of us need to hear. With a message to our generation who thrive on showcasing the perfect life on social media, Josh gets real in a book that merely talks about the truth behind a numerous amount of tweets posted by himself over the years. If you’re as consumed in social media as much as I am, I highly recommend this quick yet eye opening read.

Products

Lush Intergalactic bath bomb

intergalactic

I’m a sucker for a good bath bomb, especially ones which satisfy my aesthetic. I’ve fallen hard for Lush’s Intergalactic bath bomb which makes it look like outer space in my bath tub. Very satisfying and smells amazing.

£3.95 from LUSH
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

rimmel wake me up

This has been my go to foundation for 2015 as it has a lovely natural, radiant glow. It’s a light coverage which you can build to your own need and doesn’t feel at all caked on. Definitely got a good use out of this.

Bourjois Délice de Pouder bronzing powder

bronzer

This is definitely a product I found myself using a lot in 2015. After hearing my favourite beauty gurus rave about it and high recommendation from my friend, I picked it up earlier in the year. It’s a fantastic shade for my light skin colour and doesn’t have any orange tone to it, so it gives a natural look. Plus, I love the fact that it reminds me of chocolate!

£7.99 from Feel Unique

Tanya Burr lipgloss in Berry Picking

berry picking

I absolutely loved this lip gloss this year. It gives a berry stained look to your lips (hence the name) and isn’t too overpowering in colour. I love all of Tanya Burr Cosmetics’ lip glosses that I have tried but this one is definitely my favourite.

£5.99 from Superdrug

EOS Strawberry Sorbet lip balm

eos

I’ve never tried an EOS lip balm before this one and it definitely kept my lips moisturised whenever I used it, plus the flavour was really nice. The only downside is that I know you can get them for less than $3 in America whereas they cost a good £7 here in the UK. Next trip to America I shall definitely be stocking up.

£7.00 from Topshop
I hope you enjoyed reading about what I loved in 2015! What were your favourites from last year?

Two years of friendship and memories: The Friendship Tag

the friendship tag

Today, Monday 9th November, marks two years since I met two of my dearest friends, Sarah and Alysha. We met at a fan meet up for 5 Seconds of Summer and we’ve pretty much been close ever since. We’ve been through a world-wind of memories in a short time period of 24 months. In celebration of our friendship I nagged  asked if the girls would take a friendship tag questionnaire with me, and they happily  obliged.

me lysh sarah
The day we met! I’m with the Welsh flag, Alysha is behind me on the right and Sarah is the one looking away…

What was your first impression of each other?

J: I though Sarah was like my age maybe a year younger. I stupidly called her “Jess” as I was nervously texting my friend Jess on my way to meet everyone at the 5sos meet up. I thought Alysha was really pretty and a big Union J fan since she had just met them at their book signing.
S: I thought Jazz was a bit shy and reserved, which she was, until I got to know her and we got comfortable around each other. I though Alysha was someone who would be so easy to get along with and had 10/10 music taste. I really enjoyed both of their company.

A: I thought Sarah was pretty, outgoing but also super intimidating because she had dark blue/black hair, and also because she had (and still has) a tongue piercing. I thought jazz was super quiet until about 10 seconds into our first conversation where she made me feel so comfortable and like we’d been friends for years… and then I thought you were fab and I knew we’d be friends for a while.

What’s your favourite memory together?

S: This is where my mind goes blank…

A: When we spent the day in Cardiff together and had a sleepover because it was pretty damn awesome.

J: Oh and we hacked the CCTV of my dad’s flat to take selfies. I really enjoyed our sleepover in August because despite not knowing the worst was about to happen, I had a pretty rough year but both were there for me and able to help me take my mind off everything. They were also there when I had the news about my dad and helped clear my mind. That, and the second ever meet up which was the Christmas one at the Coca Cola truck which was like the bees knees.

S: It’s pretty much the sleepover, DerpCon, and the Coca Cola truck.

Coca Cola
The Coca Cola Truck at our Christmas meet up in 2013. There were more people there but we had mini group photos.

Describe each other in one word.

J: Sarah is hilarious. But I want to say she’s more than that because she is. But even when she’s really caring, she can crack a joke. Alysha is caring. No matter what your situation is, she cares and that’s such an amazing quality to have.

S: Jazz – intelligent. Honest to God, she’s so socially woke, and is like a fucking wordsmith. Alysha – hilarious. Legit constantly has witty replies and is just all around funny.

J: I feel like my intelligence hides for myself…

A: Jazz is incredible. You’re such a lush person (I’d say lush but incredible is better.) Sarah is just all around amazing.

What is one song that reminds you of each person?

S: Jazz- anything 1D or Disney. Alysha-any film soundtrack ever.

J: That was rather vague…

S: I can’t think of anything specific.

A: Jazz- Act My Age by One Direction. Sarah- Anything 80s related. Rick Astley maybe?

S: I love a good Rick Roll.

J: I think… Beside You by 5 Seconds of Summer for Sarah because it was the first song that 5SOS played when we saw them for the first time together at soundcheck and Calum [Hood] looked at us and smiled as Sarah cried and I hugged her. I think for Alysha it would be Set The Night On Fire by Camryn as we both ran the Welsh Camryn fan account together and I played that song a lot when we first met.

Sleepover
Sleepover!

Who in the group gives the best presents?

A: Jazz because I haven’t even given one to Sarah yet…

J: I say me because I give presents a lot and it’s my speciality 😉

S: Yeah Jazz because she’s always thinking of something new.

Who is most likely to embarrass themselves in public?

A: Either me because I’m super clumsy or Jazz because because she’s super hyper and loud.

S: I reckon Jazz because she’s quite out there when she’s hyper (that’s not a bad thing)

J: I think we’ve all had an embarrassing moment but Sarah rolls with it. I get hyper and loud sometimes because I try to mask my anxiety by acting rather boisterous but I’m also a klutz, like you need to hear my stories. If not me then Alysha because she can be a clumsy person…

CCTV
Caught on CCTV. We don’t know what Sarah is doing.

If you had to be trapped with each other in one place for 24 hours, where would it be?

A: McDonald’s because I can get cheap food from employee discount.

J: Easy, Disneyland. Or a hotel but it would have to have 5SOS in it.

A: OH YEAH! That sounds good.

S: I reckon a gig. That’d be sick.

J: A 24 hour gig? Only if there’s intervals, though. Because I’d need to pee and stuff. And it would need to be a 5SOS gig since we all love them.

S: I’d love to be trapped in an arena.

J: I mean if we could get backstage, there’d be a nice sofa to nap on. With potentially a nice band member. Of 5SOS. Michael…

A: I COULD BRING MCDONALD’S.

S: Next question

J: Alright, hold on!

Deciding together, where would be your ultimate holiday destination?

J: Guys, I genuinely think California because it has everything.

A: California or Australia. Mainly California because celebrities and great American food.

J: Australia is a good place, but it’s like a 24 hour flight. And I agree on California because like Disney and Universal Studios..

S: For me, Australia, New York or LA.

J: So we all chose California. I assume that’s our destination?

A: Yep! And Six Flags… wait how far is California from New Orleans?

J: No idea…

Tan sarah lysh jazz
With our friend, Tanya

Where do you see us all in 10 years?

J: Hopefully, all three of us will be working in our ideal jobs, still in contact and meeting up whenever possible. Maybe even going to all the local 5SOS shows together.

A: Hopefully I’ll either be in a band or more realistically have a successful job with a Psychology/English degree behind me. I see Sarah being a bassist in a band (hopefully I will be, too). I see Jazz as being a very successful journalist. Hopefully we’ll all still be friends, though. I don’t want to lose you guys.

S: I definitely see Jazz working as a journalist or something affiliated with that area of work. I see Lysh as either in a band or maybe even working in film. I see me probably living in a box making dollar from robot dancing with my Rick Rolls…

A: YES! I forgot to mention I hope to be an actress on stage and screen (as yet another career)

So, there you have it. I hope this has given you more of an insight to my friends and I. We’re all rather weird teenagers/young adults, but we’re loveable once you get to know us.

My 2014 favourites!

Hello!

So, this year has absolutely flown by and although it seems to have gone so fast, there are lots of things I’ve grown fond of. So much so that I’ve decided to put them all into a blog post that is my 2014 favourites. There’s so many that I’ve categorised them so it’s just easier to read and if there’s something that doesn’t particularly interest you, you can scroll past the category.

Beauty

I’m no beauty guru but I do take an interest in beauty products and often do slap a bit of make-up on before venturing out (though I’ll happily admit I can go without it and there’s many days where I won’t touch my make-up bag), so these are the products that I’ve been drawn to this year:

  • Maybelline New York’s Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner – this has been an absolute dream to put on for eyeliner. It’s like a thin felt-tip pen and it’s so easy to apply. I’ve got quite shaky hands but it doesn’t really matter with this product as it’s so simple to apply and looks really good.

  • Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional – I was introduced to this a few years ago and fell in love with it. My pores are quite big and make me slightly self conscious but this product literally works like magic. I don’t know how, but it manages to make your pores practically invisible and your skin look healthier. I don’t recommend you solely use this as you should treat your skin with cleansing, etc. for it to stay clean and healthy, but if you tend to get big pores and need a quick fix, I highly recommend this product. It’s not the cheapest but it’s so good, it’s well worth the cost. I picked my latest tube up on the ferry home from Paris so I’m not sure if it’ll be the same price as it is usually.

  • e.l.f’s Little Black Beauty Book: Warm Edition I’m quite keen on natural and bronze colours for eyeshadows and I came across this product which is full of all the shades I use. It’s so small but you get a really good use out of it. It’s great because there’s tones you may not always use but you can experiment using without having to buy that specific colour. It’s what I’ve used for my everyday make-up routine and I’ve had a great use out of the pallet.

  • LUSH cosmetics Ocean Sea Salt- When purchasing this, the woman behind the counter said it would change my life. She wasn’t wrong! Whenever I use this product in the shower or the bath, it makes my skin feel so much softer and look a lot healthier as well as cleaner. It smells amazing and I just feel such a difference on my skin when using it. There’s been times where I haven’t used it (like being on holidays) and when I’ve gone back to using the product, there’s a massive difference.

Music

As you may have seen from previous blog posts, I quite like music. A lot. More than a lot. Okay, it’s my life.

  • One Direction: FOUR  This is, without a doubt, their best album by far. The lads have progressed over the past four years and now that they have complete control over writing their songs, each track from the album really reflects their personalities and experiences that the fans are aware about. FOUR has an 80s vibe but with a slight twist. It’s a new sound which they have introduced to their fanbase and I, for one, am totally in love in it.

  • Olly Murs: Never Been Better – This is Olly’s 4th (or 4.5th? He released a special edition last year of album 3) album and like the previous albums, he never keeps the same sound. They follow the same sort of genre but no two song sound the same. It’s a feel good album and a compelling comeback from his 8 month break- something that makes up from his break from touring and full of songs I am itching to hear on the 2015 tour.

never been better

  • 5 Seconds of Summer: Self titled album – This is the band’s debut album which has been long awaited. It was definitely well worth the wait. With songs they have been performing from their early days at gigs to newly written songs including collaborations written with the likes of James Bourne (McBusted) and Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), this album is typically 5 Seconds of Summer and is definitely of a pop punk style.5 seconds of summer cover
  • Joan Jett: The Greatest Hits – I fell in love with Jett’s music over five years ago now and having rediscovering this song in my iTunes library a few months ago, it’s something I highly enjoy listening to. It’s full of feminism, in-your-face and stand up for yourself kind of music which never fails to get me in a positive mood.

Film and TV

  • The Big Bang Theory – I’ve been a fan of the show for some time now, but this year I had a big marathon of every season which took a couple of days but it reignited my love for it! I’m waiting for the new season to be available on iTunes so I can have a season marathon again.

big bang theory

  • American Horror Story – After my friends constantly kept talking about the show, I felt the need to see what the hype was about. I’ve only seen season one but Murder House was really good and had me gripped! I plan to watch all the seasons throughout 2015 to catch up.

American Horror Story

The Fault in Our Stars – I read the book last year and thought it was amazing and really well written. I anticipated the film for ages and went to watch it with my friends in the cinema. I won’t lie, I did have a little blubber! People question why other people like sad films, but the film wasn’t completely sad and it was just a nice teen film to watch and fall in love with the lead characters.

The Fault in Our Stars

  • Love, Rosie – As you’re probably aware, I went to the world premiere of the film and just fell in love with it. The storyline was gripping and the actors did such an outstanding job, I felt like I was living in the fictional world where the plot took place. I definitely want this on DVD when it releases.

Miscellaneous

  • River Seine Cruise – As mentioned in my October monthly favourites, I loved the Bateaux Parisiens River Seine cruise tour. It was definitely one of the highlights to my trip and the quality of the trip for the price is just outstanding. I managed to take some really good photos, especially of the Notre Dame and the next time I have the opportunity to go to Paris for the day, this is on my list of things to do.River Seine

  • La Trattoria – This has been my favourite restaurant this year. Italian is my favourite cuisine and the food here is amazing. The food is of a high quality and the service is phenomenal. There are two restaurants, one in Talbot Green (South Wales) and one in Pontypridd, I’ve been to both and they are amazing but as the Pontypridd one is closer to home, I go to this one more often. If you live in South East Wales and happen to be near either location, I highly recommend you go to La Trattoria. It’s outstanding.

La Trattoria

Those are my 2014 favourites! There’s so much I could have written about but I didn’t want the post to be too long. What did you love this year that I should check out in 2015?

Merry Christmas!

Monthly Favourites- October

Well look at that. We’re in November. This year has gone way too fast for my liking. Like wasn’t it Christmas a week ago? Anyway, nothing we can do about that, so here’s what I enjoyed in October. I’ll warn you- it’s a lot more than usual.

Love, Rosie – as you know, beginning of last month I went to the world premiere of Love, Rosie. I also wrote a review of the film and I honestly cannot wait for it come out on DVD. It’s currently in cinemas so you should definitely try and see it- I want to go again but being a student limits my spending and after my recent holiday, I am in red alert.  But the film is basically the best rom com I have seen in so long and I loved everything about it.

Polagram- This is an app which you can turn your photos into Polaroids and other formats of photos and have them sent to your door. It’s reasonably cheap and when I saw everyone posting about it on Facebook, I was really interested and so I checked the app out and ordered 2 standard polaroids and I really liked the quality. You can also make phone cases, order a box set of polaroids or even get photobooks made. If you decide to try this app out, then use my code PGV0UT7H for your first 2 credits meaning you’ll get money off your purchase. You will also have your own personal code which if you share to people and they use it, you’ll get more credits. Using other peoples codes and getting them to use yours gives both you and them 2 credit for each code used, so get your friends and family on the app, too!

Get to know me: 25 questions tag

I thought it’d be cool if we got to know each other (or at least- you get to know me) since I’ll be here blogging regularly. I don’t know about you but I like to know a bit about the person behind the keyboard. So, I’m going to do the 25 questions tag! And I tag all of you who read this to do it on your own blog and post a link below for me to see.

1. Do you have a middle name?

Nope. But my friend from my old work gave me the middle name Beyonce. Does that count?

2. What was your favorite subject in school?

Drama was the best. I loved it. Especially improvising.

3. What’s your favorite drink?

Hot drink- tea. I love tea and my favourite brand is Yorkshire Tea, I mean have you tried it? Cold drink is Asda brand cherryade and yes I’m specific about the brand as the rest don’t taste the same.

4. What’s your favorite song at the moment?

I honestly change favourite songs every day. I wake up and a new song is in my head for that entire day. Today is Mrs All American by 5 Seconds of Summer. It’s on their American version of the album and I liked listening to it so much that I ordered the American version from eBay.

5. What would you name your children?

I’ve pretty much got my mind set on no children but if I do, girl – Angel and boy – Griff

6. Do you participate in any sports?

Yes. Marathons. The movie kind.

7. What’s your favorite book?
