Festival Fashion: 4 looks from Coachella to rock this Summer season

Festival season is rapidly approaching us and with Coachella kicking off over the weekend, we all know that it’s not just about the music there, but the fashion, too. I’ve picked some of my favourite looks from famous faces for you to recreate at your local festival or just for fun ensuring you’re bang on trend.

Gingham Gal

Vanessa Hudgens is the style queen of Coachella who really does set the trend. Gingham is said to be big this year and if V is wearing it, then it must be true. You often see patterned clothing at festivals, so it looks like this may be the dominator for 2017.

Babe in Black

Festivals are known to be full of bold colours, but if you want to stand out or just really love wearing black, you can totally make it work, just like Camryn did. I think this is perfect for creating an alternative look and channeling your inner rock chick look.

Be the Belle of the Ball! 5 yellow dresses that channel Beauty and the Beast

Everyone finds Belle’s dress from the ballroom scene so beautiful and dashing and it’s definitely one of my favourite Disney princess dresses. So, I’ve decided to channel the art of Disneybounding and found some gorgeous yellow dresses inspired by Belle that are fit for any princess to pull off this upcoming Summer season.

Yellow Cornelli Dress

This gorgeous cornelli dress is perfect to frolic in the summer sun. I love the pattern which sort of resembles damask and reminds me of the decor inside the Beast’s castle. This is a perfect seasonal pick for the sunshine and great to throw in a suitcase if you’re heading off to a sunny destination.

Available from River Island for £25.00

Yellow Frill Skater Dress

For my Curvy Queens out there, this is a gorgeous summery dress with some beautiful butterfly prints. You can dress this in so many different ways. Up or down, smart or casual, the choice is yours!

why feminism is important

Why Feminism is important to me

CN:  Rape, slut-shaming and abuse are some of the topics discussed but not in great detail

The advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

I may have mentioned it once or twice, but never really gone into much about why I’m a feminist and why it’s important to me. People often tend to see the topic as ‘taboo’ or really misinterpret what feminism is about. It is not something in which women are “man haters” or feel that the female gender is superior to the male. The female gender has been oppressed for as long as history can remember. Of course, not everyone is aware of the history and often tend to base it on “well, I don’t feel oppressed, my life is great,” or ” I treat women with respect, therefore there is equality,” which is rather closed minded. I can straight away admit that growing up in my life, it was a close-knit family and there was indeed a lot of respect for all genders. However, it’s when I began to finally socialise more, make friends out of my small, caucasian-based community that I began to really see the difference. In the last few years, I’ve made friends from pretty much every walk of life. Non-binary genders, LGBTQA+ community, different races, religions, rich, poor, famous, nobodies and you really begin to learn.

Feminism is important to me. Feminism is important to me because there are so many consequences of being a female. Even if up in my life until I finally stepped foot out into the world I felt extremely privileged, you wake up and see reality. Feminism is important to me because when I or my female friends or family go out, we are told “to be careful” and “don’t walk alone” because there is a fear of being raped. Feminism is important to me because we as a society are teaching women to change how we dress instead of teaching men to not rape. Because approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year, meaning there’s roughly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour. These figures include assaults by penetration and attempts. And usually, there is very much a lot of victim blaming.

Boxing Day Sales

My Boxing Day Sales Picks 2016

Dinner has been devoured, bellies are full and the Christmas specials are on the TV. The biggest part of Christmas 2016 is done and dusted, but now it’s time for one of my most favourite bits – the sales!

If you are a teen or young adult you may prefer to have smaller presents to open and then have money to spend in the sales, or just want to shop them anyway. I’ve done some research and picked out some of the best deals for this year.

New LookTopshop and River Island have already made a start in the game by opening their sales Christmas Eve. Up to a whopping 70% off across all departments including Curves, Petitie, Tall, Maternity, Mens and much more.

ASOS and Missguided are both offering up to 50% off across their websites including clothing, accessories and footwear. One of the big brands people are excited for is Next, who are offering up to 50% across the entire store.

Boohoo are also joining the sales with 60% off as well as H&M offering the same percentage off.

Very is another with up to half price across the entire site as well as fashion. Also in the sales, John Lewis are offering up to half price on womenswear as well as different departments having sales.

Debenhams are having an entire sale across all apartments, but most notably people are very excited for the beauty and fragrance sale, offering up to 50%. Joining in the half price sales are Superdrug, LUSH and Boots.

If you’re keen on high-end brands, you may be pleased to know that Illamasqua are offering up to 70% off on their online sale. Beauty Bay, Cult Beauty and Feelunique are also ripping off 50% of prices on their website.

Celebrity Bargain Buy: Perrie Edwards

buy perrie edwards bikini

A fair while ago, I used to do a series called ‘Sunday Style Steal’ in which I’d show you how to recreate a celebrity’s outfit. I thought I’d start a similar series but making it a little snappier by showing you some pieces worn by famous faces at a more affordable price compared to the hundreds, if not thousands, usually spent on clothes.

Today I’ve found some pieces worn by Perrie Edwards from Little Mix’s latest music video, ‘Shoutout To My Ex’. These pieces are fairly affordable and since Little Mix are the talk of pop music right now, I thought I’d share with you some affordable items from the video.

Perrie wears a pink bikini for a lot of scenes in the music video while strutting her stuff at the poolside in sunny Spain with her fellow bandmates.

Perrie Edwards Bikini

Believe it or not, the two piece is actually from Boohoo.com for $22 which is around £18. Whether you’re heading off on holidays somewhere sunny or just going for a dip in the pool, this bikini is gorgeous and I’m in love with this shade of pink at the moment.

I hope you like this new series, let me know what you think in the comments below and stay tuned for more ‘Celebrity Bargain Buy’.

Sunday's Style Steal: Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Sunday Style Steal Leigh Anne

Hello again,

Sunday’s Style Steal for this week is the beautiful Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix. Along with Perrie and Jesy who I have previously focused on, Leigh has a great fashion sense and follows along with a lot of the current trends in the fashion world.

The outfit I am recreating is one from a photoshoot which Leigh posted on Instagram recently.

Leigh outfit

Leigh-Anne’s plunge crop is from Miss Guided and is available at just £15. Simple yet classy and would work well with trousers, skinny jeans or even a skirt of any length.

Punge Crop

Leigh’s slit trousers are pretty much everywhere these days. Having looked through numerous outfits the past month, side slit trousers are popping up all over the place and Leigh is no exception when it comes to on trend fashion. You can get these trousers from Zara for £25. I personally think they are great for outfits which aren’t too casual nor too formal such as a party or star studded event.

Slit Trousers

Unfortunately, Leigh’s shoes are sold out, so I picked these black mesh panel shoes from New Look which would go great with the outfit and are available for £22.99.

I’ve also found lots of different gold jewellery which, like Leigh-Anne’s choices, would go rather well with the outfit. There’s lots to choose from and enough to cater for different people’s tastes.

I hope you liked this week’s outfit! Let me know in the comments if this is something you’d wear!

Disney Nerd: Sneek Peak of the Disney X Vans 2015 collection

Disney Nerd header

If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a huge fan of Disney. I also really like to wear VANS. So, when I discovered Disney and Vans will be releasing a new line together, I got pretty excited.

Disney and Vans will be collaborating together again to bring a new collection featuring some classic Disney characters and combining them with the classic VANS shoes as well as shirts and accessories, this is one for all the Disnerds out there.

The collection appeals to pretty much everyone with male and female apparel and even sizes for kids and toddlers – show your Disney side in your day to day style or even at the parks!

The collection is expected to be out June this year around VANS stores globally – not long now!

What do you think of the collection? Will you be purchasing anything?
