January Monthly Favourites 2017

One month down of 2017, 11 more to go. Despite being ill for half of January (again), I did have a few favourites that I’ve decided to share with you from the month. So, without further ado…

MAC Whirl Lipstick

I bought this quite a few months ago and loved it then, but it somehow went missing and miraculously was discovered New Years Eve, where I decided to wear it and I fell in love all over again, so it’s been my go to lipstick of the month. This matte rosy brown shade is a nod to the 90s lip trend but with slight pink tones to prevent it from being a full on brown if you feel that may be a little too daring for your taste. It’s of quite a soft and smooth consistency and not too drying. It also holds up pretty well when eating and drinking (and I did drink on NYE, despite usually being a teetotal.) I actually bought this after seeing a Tanya Burr tutorial, but apparently this is a staple product for the one and only Kylie Jenner.

Available from MAC for £15.50

Better Than Sex Mascara

I was given this for Christmas. I’d heard a lot about it from a Make Up Facebook group I’m involved in and then when I saw Rena Lovelis apply it in a little Snapchat tutorial, her eyelashes were killing it. It was the deciding factor of jumping on the bandwagon and I am so glad I did. This really amplifies my lashes and that’s a look I’m really quite fond of. It does take a little while to dry, but if you’re patient, then this is really ideal. Once set, there is no smudging or flaking and it’s also buildable in volume and length. It’s pretty water resistant and does a fab job in curling lashes. Definitely a winner right here. Is it better than sex? Well, I’ll leave that to your own decision…

Available from Selfridges for £19.00

Review: Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara

mascara

Everyone has been raving about the new Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara, so when I was out shopping recently, I decided to pick one up and give it a try.

Warning!! Apply responsibly!! Introducing Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. Will you dare to get the Push Up Effect? Our 1st Push-Up brush with Cup-Shaped bristles boosts and thickens lashes. The formula Instantly plumps & volumises the look of lashes, with Styling Wax to keep them lifted. Intense black colour for a dramatic, sultry look. Result: A luscious pair of plumped up, full, thick lashes that last all day and night!

Maybelline

This is what my lashes looked like after one coat. They definitely have the push up effect. After applying a second coat, however, I wasn’t too impressed as my lashes seemed to clump together and look really weird. My overall thoughts are that it’s a great mascara for one coat. Avoid putting more than one because I found that there was a lot of clumping going on, but with the one coat as shown above, there was definitely some push up vibes going on. My lashes don’t look like how the product’s adverts showcase, but I’m not sure if that’s ever the case, unless you’re Gigi Hadid who’s in the ads. Pick up the mascara from Boots for £5.99 Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

March and April Favourites

March and April Monthly Favourites

Hello there!

As you may have noticed, I missed March’s monthly favourites as I was so busy around the time that I planned to write it and I just didn’t get the chance, so I felt it was only right I did March and April into one big favourites.

Maybelline’s Master Graphic Eyeliner

I’m a big fan of Maybelline’s Master Precise eyeliner and have been using it for quite some time. That is, until my friend recently recommended Master Graphic. I won’t lie, I’m pretty rubbish when it comes to mastering the winged eyeliner look of any kind, but this eyeliner has made me look slightly less rubbish. The marker style pen has a nib which is designed to help you draw different lines to create the perfect eyeliner look. I’ve still got a long way to go and a lot of practice, but when my friend used it herself, I could see the product’s full potential and I’m confident in saying that one my skills have improved, this gem of a product will be my best friend.

I Love… Raspberry & Blackberry refreshing body spritzer

I picked this up on my recent haul after spraying different products in Superdrug. This is a rather deep fruity scent which focuses more on berries than lighter scents such as apple. It’s a gorgeous scent and perfect for daytime wear.

Bourjois Paris Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

I’ve seen this product in many YouTube tutorials and have been tempted to buy it for quite some time. I saw it last month and thought it would be an idea to give it a try. It’s definitely one of if not the best bronzer I have tried (bare in mind I’ve not explored all too much in the make-up world… yet!) It’s not too overpowering and lasts for a considerable amount of hours. Perfect for sun kissed skin!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula

My dear friend, Courtney, has been on about this for some time now. A new skincare tip she has discovered and shared with me is to put this product on your face (I find overnight works better) and it will work wonders for your skin. I could definitely see a difference! My skin seemed less shiny and felt incredibly soft, not to mention looking much brighter!

Maybelline’s Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

I’ve yet to find a mascara to stick to full time but when out shopping, the words “Big Eyes” caught my attention, so I thought I would give it a whirl. My lashes with this product look as if they have doubled in size! It isn’t all that clumpy, which is also a bonus and doesn’t tend to leave marks around my eyes. Definitely one I plan to pick up again!

Sleeping With Sirens

Sleeping With Sirens

When Courtney came to visit, we decided to recommend one artist for us to both listen to and she recommended Sleeping With Sirens. I didn’t think I would be into them much, but I was wrong. Although they aren’t my ultimate favourite, they’re definitely a band I’ve found myself listening to a lot more. My favourite song is ‘Your Nickle Ain’t Worth My Dime’ along with ‘Kick Me’ which I listened to after purchasing their latest album, Madness. I feel like Kick Me may very well be mine and Courtney’s song as we both listen to it so much!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s monthly favourites! Have you tried any of these? What have you been loving this month?
