Matte lips were certainly a big trend in 2016 and it looks like they’re still going to be much loved this year, too. While there are some gorgeous matte lip products from some high end brands, there’s definitely a wide selection at a more affordable price to choose from. There are some amazing matte lipsticks from Superdrug that won’t break the bank and I’ve picked out some of the best for you to browse on your next beauty haul.
Tanya Burr Cosmetics Matte Lip – £5.99
This is definitely a product I am heart-eyed emoji over. It’s a great matte product without having a consistency which dries your lips. It’s also fairly long lasting, making it kiss-proof and causing a lack of concern of eating it off. My favourite shade is ‘Martha Moo’ as it’s a deep 90s nude, which is a look I’m in love with at the moment and works well with numerous of different eye looks.
MUA Matte Lipstick – £1.00
MAJOR BARGAIN ALERT! The MUA matte lipsticks are perfect for a babe on a budget. With great pigmentation and light consistency, this product is a handbag essential. I particularly like the shade ‘Scarlett Siren’, a sexy red with cool undertones which are perfect for your night look.
Sleek Matte Me Lipstick – £4.99
The Sleek lip products have been madly raved about, but it’s the ‘Matte Me’ which seems to be coming out on top. The shade ‘Birthday Suit’ is a gorgeous pinky-nude perfect for the upcoming Spring/Summer season if you want to brighten up your everyday look.
Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick Matte – £7.99
Despite the fact these are matte lipsticks, they are surprisingly hydrating on your lips and are of a comfortable wear. I feel like ‘Raisin’ is my most desirable shade, especially when trying to create that ‘bronzed beauty’ look. It’s simply stunning.
Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer – £3.00
These one swipe wonders are loveable for the lack of layering needed to create an intense pigmented look. The shade ‘You Took My Love’ lives up to its name as this is a bold beauty which is universally flattering across all skin tones, which makes it all the more amazing.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipstick Love – £8.99
Just scraping the price range, it’s no wonder that beauty bloggers and vloggers alike are obsessed with these little gems. Strong in colour and staying power, this lip product is definitely one that delivers well. For a classic red matte lip, I definitely like to lean towards the shade ‘Love’.
You can pick all of the above up from your local Superdrug or visit the Superdrug site.

I love red lipstick but I always wear nude
I’ve been dying to try out the Tanya Burr Matte Lips in Martha Moo but it always seems to be sold out! Great post 🙂

I think we only have two of these brands here which is sad! However, it does mean that when I go on holiday I will have to keep en eye out x
I love the look of the Mua and the revlon lipsticks! I need a trip to Superdrug!
The Sleek ones look good. I’m not sure if mua have improved there lipsticks since i last tried them. But the last few i tried that were matte werent that good, they felt quite dry and didnt really have the pigment in them
These all look great! I’ve been particularly drawn to the Revlon one but haven’t invested in it for some reason! I have the matte me in Birthday suit but haven’t worn it as I’ve been into my berries or reds for mattes for some reason! Maybe as spring rolls in I’ll give it a go! Great, concise post!
So many good brands here. I am a huge fan of both Gosh and Sleek, brilliant formula x
The Gosh line contains one of few nude lipsticks that I actually like (I don’t have it to hand but I believe the shade name is ‘Nougat’) and one of the best deep purples I’ve ever found (‘Twilight’). I’ve also been fascinated for a while by the Tanya Burr lip products but my Superdrug seems to be perpetually sold out of the shades I’m interested in. Just my luck! Great post x
this is such a great list!! cash is limited after the holidays, so it’s super helpful to have bargain beauty buys, can’t wait to try them out 🙌🏼
Love the idea of a lipstick that comes with a sponge applicator!
So many to choose from, love the ones with the sponge applicator, so much easier to apply and seem to stay on longer
I can’t believe that MUA one is only £1, that’s incredible! I keep meaning to try the Revlon ones as I’ve heard really good things, must check them out on my next trip into town. x
I really need to get something from the Tanya Burr range. These are all great prices and I do love a good Matt lippie
I have to be honest and say I’ve never tried any of these lip products before! I love how the matte lip looks, but I find them to be really uncomfortable when I wear them myself (if that makes sense). I’m definitely more of a glossy lip type of girl 🙂
