I’ve just come back from a wonderful week in North Devon and there’s so much to tell, but I think I want to begin with one of my most favourite places I visited.

Charlie Friday’s is an award winning café/coffee shop located in Lynton and is the perfect place to go for food with your furry friends. This colourful and friendly quirky café may be small in size but is full of character, warmth and love. There’s an essence of friendliness and all of the staff give you the feeling that they are old friends of yours that always make you feel welcomed.

The menu has pretty much something for everyone, with light bites, a variety of drinks – including Direct Trade Coffee – cakes and other sweet treats that are all homemade, which makes them all the more delicious if you ask me. There’s also a lot on offer for vegans and vegetarians, which is music to my ears (and tastebuds…) not to mention good value.

As I’ve mentioned, this is a dog friendly eatery where dogs are not only welcome, but very much loved. Louis and Pepsi were very excited for their visit and though this was a new experience, the vibes given from both customers and staff made them feel quite at ease. In the middle of the room sat a jar full of dog treats so there’s something for them, too. Of course, our two were very intrigued by this.

There’s so much more to this place than food, though. There’s activities such as games, cards, knitting and even colouring books suited both for kids and adults.

It seems like Charlie Friday’s is also a hot spot in Lynton as there were lots of notices for different events such as a Chinese takeaway nights and games nights, which sound amazing. I’m sure if I were a local, I’d be attending them on the regular.

Of course, don’t take my word for it – Charlie Friday’s Coffee Shop is the winner of the Best Café in North Devon and Best Coffee Shop of the Year and their TripAdvisor is full of positive praises.

Charlie Friday’s is an independent coffee shop and is featured in the South West and South Wales Independent Coffee Guide Volume 3 which is the perfect guide to finding independent coffee shops and roasters in the South West and South Wales area. I picked up a copy of this book at Charlie Friday’s and it was so intriguing to read. The book is full of so many indy coffee places you have never heard of that are practically on your doorstep. If you’re not from the area, it’s also ideal for people who love to travel as you can find different places which aren’t actually typical chains like Starbucks or Costa. There’s also a key to tell you whether there is wifi, if it’s dog friendly, bicycle friendly, family friendly and gluten free friendly. This book is going to be packed in my bag for trips around these areas and I’m so excited to find plenty of new places to pop for a cuppa.

I loved the book so much that I picked up a second copy which is up for grabs for you in my first ever giveaway! Check out the Rafflecopter for more info…
