New Year, new series! I’ve been thinking about travelling a lot the past year and while I’ve recently written a bucket list of places I’d love to go, the list keeps growing. Instead of recreating list after list, I thought I’d make an on going series which focuses on places I’d love to travel and share the beauties of the destinations with you.
The first destination I’m going to talk about which I so desperately want to visit is Italy. It’s such a beautiful country and so many of my friends have been which I’m so envious of. I don’t have a specific area of Italy that I want to visit, so I thought I’d share my Italian Bucket List.
Shop at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan
Taking a shopping trip to Italy’s oldest shopping mall is a definite must for me. Considered one of the sites of Milanese luxury shopping, along with Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga, it hosts many prestigious labels and brand shops, famous cafés and restaurants, as well as Feltrinelli Records, one of the largest megastores in Italy.
Ride a gondola in Venice
This is something so iconic and a definite must-do for any holiday trip to Italy, if you ask me. I don’t think there’s much that can beat the enchantment of a gondola ride through the historic canals of Venice. It’s a great form of transportation and the chance to really take in some breathtaking views of the area.
Eat the world’s best pizza in Naples
Where better to eat pizza than the actual origin of pizza? Legend says that Esposito was called upon to make a pizza for Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita when they visited Naples in 1889. The pizza, which was topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and Basil is still known as Pizza Margherita today. If it’s good enough for royalty, it’s good enough for me!
Visit Acqua Alta bookstore
Also known as the most beautiful bookstore in the world, Acqua Alta has a number of over-filled rooms stacked wall-to-wall with all kinds of books, maps and magazines. But with Venice’s constant flooding, these picturesque piles are all kept inside bathtubs, waterproof bin and even a full-size gondola. No wonder the name means “Book Store of High Water”! I’d love to take some photos there as well as find a new book or two to read.
Stroll down the Ponte Vecchio in Florence
The Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone arch bridge across the Arno River with tons of goldsmiths and jewellers along with the magnificent view. I’d love to go there to take in the views and maybe buy something like a necklace or bracelet. Lots of people have said it’s the perfect place to catch a mesmerising sunset. Built in the Roman times, this is the most ancient and photographed bridge in Florence.
Visit the town of Cefalù, Sicily
I saw some posts on Instagram of this picture-perfect town and had to find out more! Best known for its gorgeous sunsets and ingenuous charm, Cefalù is known for being the ideal destination for an Italian seaside holiday. Cefalù has a gorgeous beach which stretches alongside the town which is a definite tourism magnet. There’s also a photogenic harbour along with alleys and medieval buildings to visit in the town. I can definitely see this being a trip where my camera doesn’t leave my hand.
Ride the chair lift to the top of Capri
For as little as 10 euros, you can take the chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro, the highest point of Capri. Take in the views of Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius in the background, the Gulf of Salerno, Anacapri, the Isle of Ischia and the incomparable beauty of the colour of the sea. Such a small price for such a big experience!

I’ve been to Italy once, but I was still in middle school at the time. There are so many more things I’d like to do and see – mostly pizza-related!
I live very close to Italy. I love visiting it. One day, I’d love to visit Rome and Sicily. I was few times in the Venice and it’s nice for visiting.
We have almost the same Italian bucket list. I did a Gondola ride in Venice while LasVegas, it’s time for the real one
Very nice travel tip. Love the VISIT ACQUA ALTA BOOKSTORE. I definitely search it when I go there. Thanks for the descriptions
I want to do all of these as well! I went to Rome about 10 years ago with my mom, but we only had two days to explore. We did the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, ate in an outdoor pizzeria, and had some gelato. It was so fun, but I want to see so much more of the country one day!
Beautiful list! I would love to tour and explore Italy someday soon with my family. There’s plenty of places that I haven’t been to and I’d love to see them all if I could!
Thank you for this post! I was in Sicily, but never got to experience the rest of the country. I loved Sicily, so I can imagine the rest is great too!
Italy is stunning and it’s been in our bucket list for a long time. We’d love to visit the Amalfi Coast and live the life!

I’ve always wanted to go to Italy, in particular Florence! It looks so dreamy and romantic. I’ve never heard of Acqua Alta, but now I’ve read about it here I must go and visit such a magical bookish place!
