As the weather turns into a gloomy state, the idea of escaping to a warmer place just sounds delightful and while the UK is going to get colder, there’s some beautiful places in the world who are lucky to keep the sunshine around. Here are some places I wouldn’t mind taking a trip to this Winter.

Costa Del Sol

Known in English as “Coast of the Sun”, Costa Del Sol is located in the South region of Spain, located between the two lesser known coastal regions, the Costa de la Luz and the Costa Tropical. Besides the variety of breathtaking beaches, there’s so much to discover here. Enriched with culture, there’s lots to explore in both Costa Del Sol and Malaga. Take a stroll through Malaga’s historic centre and discover the Roman Theatre, the Arab Alcazaba Fortress and the Cathedral, all of which are true jewels to the area.

There’s plenty of exploring for your tastebuds, too. In recent years, New restaurants and bars have emerged, allowing you to enjoy an array of dishes from traditional Malaga cuisine to the most international choice and variety.

Algarve

Located on the beautiful southern coastline of Portugal, The Algarve is blessed with breathtaking beaches, beautiful fishing towns and a glorious climate which is the perfect combination for a holiday destination. An ideal holiday for the family with something to please everyone. such as pristine beaches for families, waterparks for the teens, an energetic nightlife for young adults and historic towns for cultural tours.

The ideal place to spend your holiday is Vilamoura, one of southern Portugal’s finest resort towns. It has an exclusive beach resort and elite golfing centre which over the years has matured to a stylish and modern holiday destination which boasts celebrated golf courses and outstanding tourist facilities. It’s the ideal vacation spot, with chic nightlife, on trend cocktail bars and just a short stroll away to the pristine beaches. With so much to do for all the family, why wouldn’t you want to go here?

Canary Islands

The Sun shining year round over these seven islands in the Atlantic Ocean but it’s never too hot, with Winter temperatures averaging at 19º C. The picturesque views surround you as you stroll along the beaches of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro which all guarantee a revitalising experience.

There’s plenty on offer for things to do and you could take day trips for the entire time you visit, with so many places to go. You could even board a hop-on-hop-off tour bus for city sightseeing or perhaps you’d rather see the views from a greater height on the Tenerife Mt Teide Cable Car. There’s also amazing opportunities like Camel Riding in Maspalomas Dunes or wine tasting tours in Lanzarote or Port of Las Palmas.

Turkey

One of the leading tourism destinations in the world, Turkey is full of stunning scenery and rich historic legacy. The country is truly fascinating both culturally and historically with beautiful beaches, outdoor activities, natural wonders, blue voyage tours, historical places, religious sites, shopping alternatives, entertainment and nightlife, world heritage sites and more.

One of Turkey’s most famous natural wonders is Pamukkale (“Cotton Castle” in English) where the pure white travertine terraces cascade down the slope looking like an out-of-place snowfield amid the green landscape, making it a phenomenal scene to take in and also photograph, which is somewhere I’d love to visit someday. For family fun, a visit to one of the theme parks like Jurassic Land or Space Camp Turkey would be full of excitement. Or perhaps a jeep safari in the Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and a limited amount of rainfall. It is said that all of the four seasons exist in Turkey.

  1. I absolutely love the Canary Islands and have been there quite a lot – so this would be my top recommendation. There’s just so much difference between the islands too, so you have a lot of options in a small area of the world. The rest of these look great, I’d be happy to escape the dark days anywhere right now.
